Oculoplastics is the branch of ophthalmology devoted to the orbit — the bony cavity that houses the eyeball — along with the eyelids and the tear ducts.

These are the structures that protect the eye, keep the cornea lubricated and shape much of the expression of a face. It also covers every problem of tear drainage, in children and in adults.

Correcting a drooping eyelid restores visual field and, at the same time, changes the look of the eye.

I graduated from the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Panama. I trained in Ophthalmology at the Complejo Hospitalario Metropolitano «Dr. Arnulfo Arias Madrid» of the Caja de Seguro Social, where I was chief resident, and completed my subspecialty in Orbit, Eyelids and Tear Ducts at the Asociación para Evitar la Ceguera in Mexico.
